This house was designed and built for a young couple who wished to live on the outskirts of Moscow, along the Pirogovo Lake. The house’s original structure was a second edition Dubldom prefabricated modular frame house in which decisions were primarily based on simplistic technology and inexpensive materials. The utility and technical rooms are found along the rear façade while the children’s room, the study, the main entrance, and the living room, complete with a fireplace, all face the idyllic Pirogovo Lake. The house’s interior is comprised of solid pine painted white. The use of modest and affordable materials, be it the house’s metal profile, its wood or glass, all harmoniously blend with its natural surroundings. Dark exterior walls further bolster the house’s visual presence.
We particularly enjoyed working on this project for the mere fact that it exemplifies that sometimes less is truly more; for example, how a simple and inexpensive wood could be in perfect harmony with such intricate surroundings
